Adventure Videos

One of the team work activities we give participants is to create a video that shows their experience and maybe even a few advocacy points they’re interested in getting out there. We give each car a GoPro and ask participants to work out who will do the camera work, who will direct, and who will tell the story. This isn’t easy! We then put together all the footage into a neat 30 minute video that is published on social media and our YouTube channel - that way, family and friends can see for themselves what went on :) You will notice that throughout the trip, participants become more observant of each other’s (and their own!) needs, and that they become more comfortable to talk about this. That is a really significant shift, and one that we work hard to achieve.

Unsolicited Feedback

Here’s what participants, parents, and volunteers wrote to us - this is real, unprompted feedback. And its only the most recent ones - there’s more. And we also have formal evaluations - so if you’re interested in working with us and need that level of detail / evidence, email us on engage@gizabreak.com.au.

Dear Dan and Soenke,

I honestly can't say how grateful I am, that out of your own time, you have taken me and others out on such a great trip. At first (when I signed up) I was unsure about how i was going to go, but as soon as i hopped in the car i knew it was going to a fantastic experience. I loved the atmosphere and your attitudes towards life, the food was really good (except the charcoal porridge) and what you taught us about resilience valuable. The change of scenery was amazing, you took us from our barren plains to green mountains. Having the chance to catch trout with Nath, visit waterfalls, 4 wheel drive and swim in mountain steams was awesome. I am so happy that i had this unforgettable opportunity and wish you the best of luck for your future trips. I would also like to thank Nathan for his patience and Macca for giving up his time for us Hay boys.

I hope we can catch up sometime as well.

From Oliver.

Morning guys just wanted to slip you a quick note to say a huge big thank you for taking the girls. They had the best time and still talking about it this morning from when they woke up until they got on the bus! It makes a huge difference when opportunities like this become available to kids out West it gives them a real boost, so hats off to you all for making this possible.

With kind regards

Ange Masters

Hi Guy's,

Many many thanks for everything and yes like most of the girl's [participant name removed] was exhausted and had the next day off.

I would also like to thank you for your word's of encouragement regarding [participant name removed] and nursing, her mother was a PCA I have been encouraging her to do the same but do the whole thing and become a DIV 1 2 or 3 nurse first then look at other interests I feel she is now on the right path because of your help.

Kindest Regards,

[name removed].
PS. I am extremely proud of [participant name removed],her and her brother are my life and if not for them I probably wouldn't be here.

Dan and Soenke,

Both of you two men are an inspiration to these young gentlemen, if my sons ever have the chance to attend a Giz-A-Break tour then I would hope that it is with the two of you. The professionalism, dedication, engagement that you the pair you two showed was nothing less than awe inspiring. Soenke and Dan I am blown away by the level of planning that you two have put into these activities, be it the cooking/hygiene course, the adaptability that was shown not once but on multiple levels. The ability that your team was able to foresee a problem and implement change before it became a problem was refreshing to see.

My observation about the trip in general was nothing short of amazing.

On a last note the food was outstanding and I believe that a team can only be as good as it can be due to the support that is given to it. Thank you Louise for your delicious meals.
